Bordeaux is hosting the Fifib (Festival international du film indépendant de Bordeaux) sixth edition. From the 18th to the 25th of october 2017, dozens of short and feature films will be shown in the main movie theaters all over the city while cours Mably (located only 15 minutes away from Casa Blanca B&B) will turn itself into a gigantic outdoor cinema and dance-floor. If there is an entrance fee for the movies, cours Mably festivities are free for all !
More press. And what a press! Casa Blanca highlighted by The Wall Street Journal in those terms : “This 200-year-old townhouse consists of five spacious guest rooms, each with a fireplace and floor-to-ceiling French windows”. What a honor !
A food website has revealed a league table of the best cities for restaurants in France and the rankings may surprise a few people.
Bordeaux has been crowned the best place to eat in France ahead of cities generally considered to be the gastronomic hubs of French cuisine, Paris and Lyon.
The list, published by food site, Atabula ranks the 30 most populated towns and cities in France according to where people can expect to find the best restaurant cuisine.
French political heavyweight and mayor of Bordeaux Alain Juppé responded to the good news with barely contained excitement in a tweet saying, “Ouaaaah!”
Bordeaux is home to an impressive selection of restaurants, including three two-star Michelin restaurants, three one-star restaurants and three restaurants awarded the guide’s BIB Gourmand, indicating restaurants that offer exceptionally good food at moderate prices.
Even star chef Gordon Ramsey couldn’t resist the allure of the city’s gastronomic scene, opening Le Pressoir d’Argent Gordon Ramsay located on the first floor of the stunning Le Grand Hôtel.
This isn’t the first time Bordeaux’s appeal has grabbed headlines. In 2016 a survey showed that it is the city Parisians most want to move to and in August 2014 Bordeaux and it surrounding region was voted as the “best place to work” by the French.
And remember from July Bordeaux is only two hours away from Paris by TGV, thanks to an improved high-speed line.
Paris made it to second place despite being considered a must-visit culinary hotspot by people the world over, something which is likely to disappoint the owners and perhaps even loyal patrons of the city’s whopping 97 Michelin-starred restaurants.
And Lyon, known as France’s “gastronomic capital” with its much-loved “bouchons”, famed for serving up plates of Lyonnaise specialties with a glass of the region’s renowned Beaujolais wine, came in third place on the new list.
The Chartrons area is booming with places to check out. Yesterday we had the pleasure of discovering the ever so cool, cocktail bar and restaurant called Symbiose. We went for lunch; and were pleasantly surprised by their short list of daily special that looked just as good as they tasted. For just twenty euros for an entre, plat, and desert; you really cant go wrong. Bonus = at night, hidden behind a giant grandfather clock is a cocktail bar serving up delectable treats for the thirsty. Enjoy!

Après dix mois de travaux, la maison d’hôtes Casa Blanca est sur le point d’ouvrir ses portes. Le peintre vient d’apporter les dernières touches de finitions tandis que quelques détails de décoration restent encore à être apportés…
La maison d’hôtes Casa Blanca s’apprête enfin à accueillir ses premiers clients, un couple venu de Grèce. Ils séjourneront pendant trois jours dans la Très grande chambre avec balcon, l’une des plus authentiques avec ses moulures, sa cheminée en marbre blanc, son parquet et ses boiseries d’époque.
En ce week-end du 9 septembre, nombreux sont les hôtes de Casa Blanca à avoir voulu se rendre à la deuxième édition de l’Ocean Climax, l’excellent festival de musique organisé par le Projet Darwin. Ou l’art d’allier divertissement de qualité et combat pour une bonne cause, en l’occurrence la sauvegarde des océans. On adhère !
Les 15 et 16 octobre, le château Lusseau prendra fièrement part à la 20ème édition des Portes Ouvertes dans les Graves.
